Assessments

Where appropriate, all assessments undertaken by clients enrolled with Master Builders comply with the assessment guidelines included in the relevant training package. All assessment processes are valid, reliable, fair and flexible.

The context, purpose and process of assessments is provided to all clients prior to commencement of training. Provision of constructive feedback is a major component of the assessment processes at Master Builders.

Assessment submissions & extensions

Clients are required to submit assessment items by the due dates set by Master Builders.

If a client is unable to submit an assessment item by the scheduled due date, notification must be given to Master Builders prior to this date. Extensions for submitting assessments will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Assessment re-submissions

Clients are entitled to an opportunity to re-submit assessment items should the initial assessment be deemed ‘unsatisfactory’. The assessment re-submission must be made within ten working days of receipt of the re-submission advice.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is “the act of taking and using another person’s work as one’s own”. Any of the following acts constitutes plagiarism unless the work is appropriately acknowledged:

  • Directly copying any part of another’s work
  • Summarising the work of another
  • Using an idea derived from another person’s work.

Plagiarism constitutes a major infringement and as such, plagiarism will result in an automatic ‘unsatisfactory’ result of assessment and will require an interview with the Training & Licensing Manager.

Assessment appeals

Clients enrolled in training with Master Builders are entitled to appeal assessment decisions made by a Master Builders Trainer/Assessor. Please refer to the complaints policy.
