Basic Estimating for Builders

The Basic Estimating for Builders training program provides builders with the skills and knowledge required to estimate materials, labour and time requirements and establish costs for a basic project.

This course will help builders and cadets in the domestic sector to sharpen their estimating skills. It provides an in-depth understanding of how to approach an estimate and outlines the steps for an accurate estimate. The course is based upon a new three bedroom domestic dwelling and will apply across all sectors of domestic construction.

Outcome

Successful participants will be issued with a Statement of Completion.

Topics covered

Reading drawings and specifications, quantities, establishing rates, establishing project costs, margins, over-heads, tendering and preparing quotes.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a sufficient level of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills.
