New face for Master Builders Sunshine Coast
Published: 19 June 2012
Master Builders, Queensland’s peak body for housing and construction, recently welcomed Michael Hopkins to the role of Sunshine Coast Regional Manager.
With many years’ experience in both corporate and government sectors, Michael has a diverse background and CV full of building and development industry highlights and is keen to bring his experience and knowledge to Master Builders.
“My industry experience and qualifications in business and urban planning mean I have a proven track record within the industry and will be able to offer experienced and meaningful advice to members and the local industry,” he said.
“My role at Master Builders will be varied, from working with local builders and trade contractors and assisting with issues within their business, to facilitating the annual Sunshine Coast Housing & Construction Awards program.
“It’s an interesting role at Master Builders and I’m relishing the chance to use my experience to assist members and the local industry.
“We offer a full range of services from the Sunshine Coast office, from training and licensing services, where we can help people through the process of getting properly licensed, right through to assistance with disputes and contracts and workplace relations and employment and wages issues.
“My past work with organisations like Lend Lease, the Sunshine Coast Business Council and the Property Council of Australia, as well as the experience of running my own business, has put me in good stead for the skills that are required in my new role.
“By far the most important thing I have learned is how to manage cash flow during a financial crisis. One year working through the GFC has been worth 10 years of study and I’m keen to help Master Builders members on the Sunshine Coast through the current tough times.
“I’m now getting out and about to introduce myself to the local building industry and encourage members to drop in to the Buderim office or give us a call if they need any support from Master Builders. We are always here to help.”
Master Builders Executive Director, Graham Cuthbert, said Michael’s appointment was vital for maintaining Master Builders unmatched regional footprint.
“Our Sunshine Coast office in Buderim is just one of nine offices throughout Queensland. We pride ourselves on our representation across Queensland and the fact that wherever our members are working in Queensland, we have a fully equipped office to help them.”
