Inclement weather

The Building and Construction Industry General On-site Award 2010 and other construction awards contain provision for inclement weather. Generally, an employee is entitled to payment for up to 32 hours work lost due to inclement weather in every four week period. The periods do not necessarily start on the first or end on the last day of each month.

Existing employees are credited with 32 hours at the commencement of each period, as are employees who begin employment during the first week of any period. If an employee starts during the second week, they will be credited with 24 hours, the third week 16 hours, and the fourth week 8 hours.

The number of hours credited cannot exceed 32, and unused credits do not accrue.
