Unions’ pattern agreement 2011–2015

The CFMEU (Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union) and the BLF (Building Labourers Federation) have issued their enterprise agreements for 2011–2015.

Contractors and subcontractors who are approached by the unions to make an enterprise bargaining agreement (EBA) should have a close look at what the union is asking them to sign.

On the face of it, the union EBA claim is for an increase in wages and allowances, between 5% and 6% per year; however, there are additional costs and restrictive practices built into the claims. Members must consider the impact of all of these costs on their business when responding to the union.

The below summary highlights some of the irregular or indirect extras in the unions draft agreements. Please note that the list does not provide clause numbers as the draft agreements may vary slightly in formatting and inclusions.

Members should contact Master Builders to confirm the content of any union claim they receive and to receive specific advice and guidance on the bargaining process.
