Tender opportunities

If you’re running a business in the building and construction industry, it is important that you are aware of the resources available to help you locate tender opportunities:

Department of Housing and Public Works

The Department of Housing and Public Works’ Online Project Search provides a quick and easy way to find current and upcoming tender opportunities.

To tender on government projects you must be registered under the Prequalification (PQC) System. For more information about PQC, call the PQC Infoline on 1800 072 621 or go to the Department of Housing and Public Works website.

The Queensland Government has two eTender websites, which can be accessed through the online tenders section within the Department of Housing and Public Works website.

The Queensland Government Building Projects: Industry Guide sets out the latest information on building projects within the government's capital works program. Get ahead of the game by using the guide, designed to help building industry contractors, trade contractors, suppliers and consultants to identify upcoming opportunities on government building projects across the state.

Queensland Government

From 1 July 2014, the key requirement of the new Queensland Government Building and Construction Training Policy is for contractors on eligible Queensland Government building and civil construction projects to ensure that a minimum of 10 per cent of the total labour hours on the project are undertaken by apprentices and trainees and through other workforce training.

The Training Policy replaces the Queensland Government Building and Construction Contracts Structured Training Policy (10% Training Policy) and the Indigenous Employment Policy for Queensland Government Building and Civil Construction Projects (IEP 20% Policy).

The contract thresholds under the new Training Policy are different to the previous policies and now apply to Queensland Government building projects with a contract sum of $500,000 or greater (including GST) and for civil construction projects with a contract sum of $3 million or greater (including GST).
