Strategic Management Team

The day-to-day operations of Master Builders are overseen by the Strategic Management Team.

Graham Cuthbert (Executive Director)

Graham-CuthbertGraham Cuthbert was appointed Executive Director in 2002 after spending 20 years with Master Builders in the roles of Director Construction Services and then Deputy Executive Director.

Having worked for corporate, industry and employer organisations, Graham has extensive experience in the legal, technical, political and practical aspects of the building and construction industry. His background lies in industrial relations and human resources where his expert written and verbal communication skills were developed along with his exceptional attention to detail.

As a respected industry spokesman, Graham has made numerous representations on behalf of the industry to a wide range of stakeholders, including all levels of government.

Graham has led Master Builders through a strong period of growth with the strategic use of business units to underpin membership. He has also harnessed the growth potential in regional Queensland to make Master Builders a genuine state based organisation and the largest Master Builders Association in Australia.

John Crittall (Director – Construction Policy)

john-crittallJohn was appointed Director – Construction Policy in 2003 and is responsible for providing high-level, strategic advice to Master Builders members in regard to workplace relations, health and safety and legislative compliance.

John’s key area of expertise is negotiating and developing enterprise bargaining agreements and high-level workplace reform. John has also led state government reviews into workplace health and safety and been instrumental in developing public policy for the construction sector in Queensland.

John also holds positions on the Workplace Health and Safety Board of Queensland, the Enforceable Undertaking Advisory Panel for Workplace Health and Safety, and is a Director for CIPQ.

Paul Bidwell (Director – Housing Policy)

Paul-BidwellPaul joined Master Builders in July 2009 and has 18 years private and public sector experience in policy planning and analysis.

He most recently worked with the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland, Herron Todd White Property Valuers and AgForce Queensland.

Paul is a qualified valuer with tertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning, and business administration.

Fiona Ashmore (Director – Corporate Services)

Fiona-AshmoreFiona joined Master Builders as Director – Corporate Services in 2007, bringing to the role 16 years of experience in a variety of not-for-profits, and 12 years in public practice. Fiona oversees the strategy and day-to-day operations of the Finance & Administration; Information Technology; Communications, Marketing & Corporate Affairs; Membership Administration; and Contract Services Administration teams.

Strongly focused on governance and compliance, work processes, and internal and external customer relations, Fiona has significantly strengthened Master Builders internal operations, introducing new auditors and creating work processes across the organisation. She was also instrumental in the establishment of the Master Builders Foundation.

A Fellow of the Australian Society of CPAs, Fiona’s professional background includes leadership and management roles with a variety of membership-based and registered training organisations.
